Is there any support for veterans with emotional/mental health problems?

Military Veteran’s Service aims to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of ex-service personnel and their families, working with people across the whole of the North West. Support is provided through one to one sessions with a therapist or psychologist, family sessions, self-help support and group therapy. Further information about the service and a referral form can be found online, by email (mviapt.enquiries.nw@nhs.net) or by calling 0161 253 6638.

Combat Stress is the UK’s leading military charity specialising in the care of Veteran’s mental health. They look after men and women who are suffering from a psychological condition related to their service career - such as depression, anxiety, a phobia or PTSD. Support is provided through a 24 hour helpline (0800 138 1619 - you can also contact Combat by text and e-mail), a Community Outreach programme and various residential courses. Information about their services in the north west can be obtained by calling 01952 822 756.Further information about support for veterans can also be found through Veterans UK (helpline 0800 169 2277) and Big White Wall.
