What support is there for older people with mental health problems?

5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provide a range of ‘Later Life and Memory Services’ to support people over the age of 65 in St Helens who are experiencing mental health problems such as depression or anxiety. They can also help people of any age who are experiencing memory problems or have a diagnosis of dementia. To access these services you will need to make a referral through your GP or the Open Mind service.

5 Boroughs Partnership also facilitate a forum for older people with mental health problems called ‘Later Life Forum’. The forum meets every two months in a variety of locations across St Helens, Halton, Knowsley, Wigan and Warrington with the meetings starting at 12.30pm (lunch is provided). Contact 01925 664 000 for further details.

The Keep in Touch group is a community based group for older people who have experienced mental health problems. The group meets up twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays between 10am and 3pm) and is an opportunity to meet new/old friends, chat, relax and spend time with others who have shared similar experiences.
